After everything I had been through, there was a time when I didn’t really recognize myself anymore. I felt like I had lost parts of who I was somewhere along the way. Unbreak Me came from the moment I realized that I couldn’t keep running from everything that was hurting me. At some point, I had to face it. This song is about fighting your own battles, even when you’re scared and even when you don’t know if you’re strong enough to win. It’s about slowly putting yourself back together and trying to find the person you used to be—or maybe discovering a new version of yourself. Darkest Thoughts was about getting lost in my own darkness. Unbreak Me is about finding the strength to walk out of it. I don’t think healing means that you suddenly stop hurting. I think sometimes it just means waking up, carrying everything you feel, and still deciding to keep going. And that’s what this song means to me. No matter how many times I fall apart, I won’t let myself stay there forever.
